The Ciofani family living in the surrounding Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area has been here since the early 20th century. I can trace back 3 generations from my own. Most of our families have died or have married and lost the name, as I am the last unmarried male with that name. The only other piece of information is that my family comes from a town called Aguila (water town). Aside from that I know nothing else of the origin. Most of the family has taken to pronouncing the name (see a fawn e), but I have ressurected the Italian pronunciation since I was a child.

Aside from my branch there are some more Ciofani's mostly in the mid-west united states, in the state of Ohio and Indiana, Illinois especially.

This is all I know.

M Ciofani
