I know that my grandfather, Francesco Susi, was born somewhere in Abruzzi, on December 22, 1881. Judging from the Ellis Island records, I think he may have been from Sulmona, but I can't be sure. Can anyone out there confirm that? I will be traveling, with a tour group, to Italy from February 26 -March 15th, and I hope to travel to Sulmona on one of my "free time" days. I will be coming from Sorrento, more than likely (perhaps from Montecatini ... whichever is the easiest route -- would love suggestions re same). I'll be staying at the Aminta Hotel in Sorrento, and the Grand Plaza in Montecatini, but would love to hear from you via e-mail before I leave the States, if at all possible. Also, does anyone know if there is an e-mail address for the IAT Tourist Information in Sulmona, or the birth records office there? How about the train scheudles.
