My Grandmother, Rose M. (Pirozzi) Cancelmo just past away at age 89. The following is the obituary. She was an amazing person whom everyone adored. I thought it would be a good idea to let people of her birth place know about it. I am proud to be Italian! Please forward any related info. Thank you. Byron Cancelmo WORCESTER- Rose M. (Pirozzi) Cancelmo, 89, a resident of SunBridge for Millbury, formerly of 54 Northboro St., a retired stitcher, died Saturday, Oct. 5, in UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus after a brief illness. Her husband of 67 years, Joseph P. Cancelmo Sr., died in 1998. She leaves two sons, Joseph P. Cancelmo Jr. of Worcester and Cannes, France, and Richard J. Cancelmo of Worcester; three daughters, Bernadetta "Bea" Socha of Millbury, Ann M. DesRosiers and Marie E. Albano, both of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A grandson and two sisters, Filomena Carpinetti and Antoinette DeAngelis, predeceased her. She was born in Torino DiSangro, Provencia de Chieti, Italy, daughter of Nicola and Maria (Scardapano) Pirozzi, and came to this country in 1920. Mrs Cancelmo was a stitcher at Comfort Products Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Church, its Womens Guild, Loggia Cristoforo Columbo 168 Son's of Italy in America, the Resident's Council at SunBridge for Millbury Nursing Home and its Spiritual Ministry. She was an accomplished baker. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8, from Arthur S. Manzi & Son Funeral Home and Garden Chapel, 179 Shrewsbury St. (www.manzifuneralhome.com), with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Donations may be made to SunBridge for Millbury Nursing Center, Activities Department, 312 Millbury Ave., Millbury, MA 01527.
