To make a connection, you can try writing them a letter in Italian, or, if you have a date of birth for your ancestor, a research can start from there in the state archive in Teramo. If you have an approximate year of birth, research can also be started. Consider that records after 1866 to 1910 have been available only for a year now, so it is possible the researcher you contacted did not yet have access to the records.
