We are glad to received your call today. I am copying my mail if you didn't receive it. Unfortunately I don't speake italian fluently, and my english is not better, but I can understand you. Here we speake portuguese, you know.
My grandfather was a carpenter's teacher in São Paulo, at Liceu de Artes e Oficios. I was born in São Paulo and I'm living with my son Marcel and my daugthter Paula in São Carlos, for twenty years, since I married Celso and I stay here after my divorce. I'm a teacher of sociology and political science and when you call I was in the university. My son Marcel is studying in Paris now. My daugther and her father will go to Paris in July to visit Marcel and perhaps, if you send us the direction, they could go to Italy, to Corato, visit the parents.
I haven't receive any notice from the Di Ciommo in São Paulo. Only in once time I talk with Iris Di Ciommo, daughter of Josepe or Benedito. My father Remo Di Ciommo didn't talk about his cousins and uncles. I have de document and the research that I made, so I know that my grandfather Domenico Di Ciommo was also from Corato and enter in Brasil with Teresa, his wife, without children in that time. I don't know if he became widow or separated of Teresa, what really happened, but the name of my grandmother was Giulia Di Matteo.
He was born in december, 18, 1867. Hil father was Nicolau Di Ciommo and his mother was Maria Luiza Di Ciommo. He arrived in 1894 with his first wife Tereza Di Ciommo.
I am searching information about my grandmother Giulia. Domenico and Giulia Di Matteo had four children : Nicolau Renato, Fiorentina, my father Remo and Hugo.
I don't know where Giulia was born, only that was in Abruzzi and that is why I couldn't conclude the process to get the italian citizen. I found some informations about Di Ciommo in http://gens.labo.net . It seems that there are a lake with the name Ciommo.
When and how did your parents came to Canada? I heard some histories about the brothers of my grandfather, that they had decided to go to another countries, like EUA and Argentina, but not Canada.
I saw in internet that are few groups of Di Ciommo in Italy, you can see in this site, they have a distribution in the Italy map and you could ask a shirt with this illustration.
Is really a great pleasure to meet our parents and understand more about our origins.
