My greatgrandparents were Giuseppe DiNunzio and Maria Di Berardino (born 1861). They came to the United States from Corvara (PE)in the late 1800's or early 1900's. They left two or three older children, including my grandfather, in Corvara. They brought the youngest children with them. They settled in Chicago. I believe that he was a tailor. My grandfather who was the oldest of their eleven children married and remained in Chicago. Giuseppe and Maria moved to southern California with the ten younger children. I visited the archives in Pescara two years ago and initiated a geneaology search. I received a family tree going back four generations from Guiseppe. They included copies of birth and marriage certificates. I was in Italy again this year and stopped in Corvara. There are still DiNunzios and DeBerardinos living in the area although the town was pretty much destroyed by a rockslide in the late 1990's. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to try to contact them while I was there. When I go back, I plan to try to meet them. I'm working on my Italian. I got names, addresses and phone numbers from the Pescara white pages. I would be interested to know if any of this history sounds familiar. Follow Ups:
