Posted by brockflanders  --  NAME: Davd on 08/01/03 at 6:12 PM Subject:   Santillo Ciao Michele, My mothers family are all from S Polo Matese.My great grandmother was a Santillo.We have Santillo on both my mothers parents sides.My great aunt Mary(100yrs old)was a Iammatteo,Married a Santillo.They came to Chicago in the late 40s.If you've gone to S Polo, the alter in the hills behind S Polo(S Maria)was built by the stones my great aunt carried on her head. Later the statue(1984)was added,and a cross my uncle Tony Pietro had built at my great aunts request.I've visited S Polo 5 times since 1995,I see the Capra family at the base of the hill directly across from S Michele, the church. While there Nichola Capra whose sister married a Santillo, Calls them Santilli, There are no Santillis.That is a pronunciation thing.In a small villiage like S Polo everyone is at least a second cousin.In my family Santillo is a major name. The morman church has recordsof births,deaths ,marriages back to 1810 for S Polo Matese.No I am not morman.Would like to hear about your trip, I visited last in April 2002.s Polo Matese Follow Ups:
