Subject:   Zinni's in Roccascalegna

I was very interested to read your messages about relatives that emmigrated from Roccascalegna. My parents Amedeo and Vincenzina Zinni (nee Guerrini) emmigrated from Roccascalegna to Ontario Canada in the early 1950's. As they were the only ones in their immediate families to emmigrate they have kept in very close contact and visit often. My brother and I have gotten to know our relatives and Roccascalegna very well.

It is so interesting to read all the names on this site which are so common in the village. My paternal grandfather, Nicola Zinni and many of his relatives went to the United States at the turn of the century to work. My grandfather was in Philadelphia from about 1910 to 1918 when he returned to Roccascalegna and his family. Many of the others did not go back.

Ricki you speak of a small village on the way to Roccascalegna where almost everyone is called Zinni. This is likely the contrada of Solagne (a suburb of sorts)where my father was born and raised. It is really a collection of homes of several generations of the same family.

We would be happy to try to answer any questions you might have about Roccascalegna and the Zinni's.

Anna
