Subject: Vertolli Inforamtion For LA
Hello
My father Pierino Vertolli came to Canada in 1956. He came to join his brothers Pasquale, Ezio, Ugo and Nello who in turn had come to join their uncles and cousins already here. The first generation (my grandfather, Vincenzo) of our immediate family came to Canada via Ellis Island in 1910. I, along with my mother Erminia (nee Pandolfi) and sister Angela came to join my dad in 1957. As a child, I remember visiting Zio Emanuele’s farm in Markham, Ontario (Just north east of Toronto). He was my grandfather’s cousin. His father Zio Luigi was my great grandfather’s (Angelo) brother. They in turn were the children of Tommaso Vertolli (1824-1887) and Clorinda Plini (1816-1889). All of the Vertolli family in Campotosto can trace their origins back to a Carlo Vertolli born in 1604. All this information and a lot more is available from the Campotosto town records hence I am a little perplexed by Don Vertolli saying that record keeping was inaccurate due to most of his relatives not being able to write. I say this because my great grandfather (Angelo) and his father before him had excellent penmanship.
