: Hi - My great grandparents were from Chieti province, I think from Casalinguida. Their names were Raphael Sabatini and Felomena Colontonio, but I don't know if they were married in the US or in Italy. I have always been curious as to whether there is any family still there. I would love to hear from anyone who thinks they might be related, either in Italy or U.S.

Hello Elena!
Since there are many Sabatini and Colantonio families in the place now, we advise a research to find the original birth acts of your grandparents - on the acts there may be an address or contrada where some of the families in Casalanguida may still be living today, and of course you will obtain also the names of their parents. This is the most important first step in finding connections. Secondly, you could research a little more to find the names of brothers and sisters, often the original birth acts also supply the date of marriage and the family they married into. After this, a connection may probably come out. And you will prepare a nice letter in Italian to the families there. In case you want our Genealogy Section to supply an estimate for this research, you can email us at info- AT - abruzzo2000.com
