On the southeaster coast of Italy, right on the bottom "sole" of the boot, look for a town now known as Crotone. I have done research on this, since my name is also Cutrone (my grandfather immigrated from Toro (near Campobosso) in 1910). Originally a Greek town called Kroton, over the centuries the name changed several times until it became Cotrone sometime from the Roman Empire to the 17th Century. On some maps in the 18th Century into the early 1900s, the name was Cutrone. If you look closely at a good detailed map, you may still see it. Hope this helps.
