Information on Cesira Romano (my Great Grandmother) who came to the United States March 16, 1904. She was a resident of Chieti, Italy, 25 years old and married to (Tolomeo Romano?). She had one child and was 5 months pregnant with my Grandmother (Maria Clara Romano) on her arrival at Ellis Island, New York. My Grandmother Maria Clara Romano was born July 22, 1904, at 157 Thompson Ave in New York City, She was baptized by Rev Giovanni Ferrazzo on July 23, 1904. She was delivered by a midwife/friend, Loreta Astarita, of the same address. My Grandmother was taken to the New York Foundling Hospital on July 26, 1904. She was left there by her mother Cesira Romano with a note written by Rev John Gerrazzo of St Brigids church explaning that the midwife said that her mother (Cesira Romano) was unable to care for her, so she was asking that Grandmother be placed. The records show that she was placed with Joe Gotsky of Austin, Texas on June 30, 1906. Grandmother was sent from New York to Texas via the Orphan train at that time and was raised by the Gotsky family. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
