Posted by gceles7434  --  NAME: body on 03/08/02 at 6:33 PM Subject:   Paolini and Fontana I just returned from San Benedetto and also met Sabina who is my counsin as well. THe town is beautiful but sadly fading away with only about 175 people living there. The only place I remember where you can stay is about l/2 hour away in Sulmona. There are about 4 hotels there. I dont remember the names but you can go on line with google.com and ask for Sulmona Italy hotels and you will have a list. When you see Sabina tell her I said hello; I was there with a friend. My grandfather's mother was a named Dominica. My grandmother was a Fontana. We are most likely related on my grandfathers side. There is a small cemetery before you reach the town with the key hanging just inside the gate. THere is a town drunk as well usually hanging in the plaza. There are still several small children still living there; in any event the countryside is beautiful and hopefully I will go back again next year. Let me know if I can help in any way.
