Joseph: I know that Frank was a cousin of our grandfather, the late Dr. Henry Lewis Carideo, M.D. The woman in Australia that contacted you, Eufrasia probably, is a great connection. I emailed back and forth with her for a while. She got married a few years back (4 or 5?) and I have not heard from her since. She has done the most extensive research into our last name that we have come across. My parents printed out the story of our last name that she sent to them and brought it to my grandfather. He confirmed that we (Kristin and I, at least) are indeed related to Eufrasia; third cousins, I think. Hope this helps! -BC : : : : Kristen, : : : Thanks for your info! I have actually requested copies of my grandparents SS# applications, which lists their parents (my great-grandparents) names on the application. I'm at work today, but I will post it when I go home tonight. I am 32 yrs old and I have two brothers, 29 and 26 yrs old. My grandparents names were Frank Carideo and Lena (Pasqualina) Carideo, and they both lived in Boston. Lena actually grew up in the North End in Boston, which is equivalent to either Arthur Avenue in the Bronx or the old "Little Italy" in New York. I am from the Boston-based Carideo's, specifically Everett, Massachusetts. I have done some research at The Ellis Island records bank, and come up with a 'Giovanni Carideo' who came here in the early 1900s. I do know that my family emigrated from Avellino, Italy to the US. I now work in Manhattan, but all of my family still lives in Boston. I know that my father, Pat Carideo, who also lives in Boston, had some relatives in New Jersey that he had visited when he was little, but I don't have too much info on them. I am trying to put together a family tree. If anyone has any info, that would be greatly appreciated. : : : : Okay. Here's what I know of my side of the family. I am young, 3rd generation American. My great-grandfather's name was some version of Fred (though I think that was anglicized). His son, my grandfather, was named Henry. He had siblings named James, Margaret, Fred and John. I know that at least some branches of the family were illegal, and therefore would not appear in the Ellis Island records, though I believe there were a few who had a port of entry at Boston. I know of no Giovanni on my side of the family. : : : : A town name I have come across (I did a brief research project in 7th grade) was the town of Denticarne (or Denticane) 30 miles north-west of Naples, although I think the family is originally from Calabria, further south. : Ok. Hi all my name is joseph carideo I am 34 and live in NYC. I came across this page as I was doing research regarding a relative named FranK Carideo who was a very popular college football player for Notre dame in the late 20's and early 30's. : There are Carideo in the town of Dentecane, Avellino in Italy. Thats where my father is from his name is Sabino. His father my grandfather name is Joseph actually Giuseppe.I am aware of two other brothers he has named Saverio and Pasquale.I will do some further investigating to find out the names of my grandfathers brothers and sisters and cousins. I have never met any Carideo's in Boston. There are also a few in Tenesse(which I believe is where Frank carideo retired) and Chatanooga also TN I believe. : Faustino Carideo who lives in Ny and is a cousin of my father did some research a while back and if I'm not mistaken said the family name goes back to Spain. I'm not certain on this so don't panick:-) : I have also been contacted by a Carideo in Austaralia years back though I never pursued it. : I would love any info anyone has.
