: : : : : My name is Michelle Carideo. I am from the Boston-based Carideo's, specifically Everett, Massachusetts. I have done some research at The Ellis Island records bank, and come up with a 'Giovanni Carideo' who came here in the early 1900s. I do know that my family emigrated from Avellino, Italy to the US. I now work in Manhattan, but all of my family still lives in Boston. I know that my father, Pat Carideo, who also lives in Boston, had some relatives in New Jersey that he had visited when he was little, but I don't have too much info on them. I am trying to put together a family tree. If anyone has any info, that would be greatly appreciated. : : : : Okay. Here's what I know of my side of the family. I am young, 3rd generation American. My great-grandfather's name was some version of Fred (though I think that was anglicized). His son, my grandfather, was named Henry. He had siblings named James, Margaret, Fred and John. I know that at least some branches of the family were illegal, and therefore would not appear in the Ellis Island records, though I believe there were a few who had a port of entry at Boston. I know of no Giovanni on my side of the family. : : : : A town name I have come across (I did a brief research project in 7th grade) was the town of Denticarne (or Denticane) 30 miles north-west of Naples, although I think the family is originally from Calabria, further south. : Ok. Hi all my name is joseph carideo I am 34 and live in NYC. I came across this page as I was doing research regarding a relative named FranK Carideo who was a very popular college football player for Notre dame in the late 20's and early 30's. Hi, This message is for Joseph Carideo, I also came across this page in doing some research on Frank Carideo. He is a cousin of my Grandfather Charles S. Carideo, the 'S' stands for Salvatore but he was known as the 'SHADOW' to all that he worked with. I am Paul Welch and am also 34 years old and live in Boston. As I am sure you can tell by my last name my mother is the Carideo in my family. My Great Grandfather and Frank's father were brothers. My Grandfather just past away about two years ago at age 93 and in my eyes was quite a man. I was under the impression that his father was from Naples, but I am not sure. My grandfather grew up in the Northend of Boston, His father was a train engineer. Any information that you have about the Carideos would be appreciated as my mother is always looking for Family.
