Hello Joe,
We think your family was actually from Trasacco, near Avezzano.
In our research records we have an Ermanno Palmerino Febonio born 22 march 1882.
Throughout Italy there are only three Febonio families now, two in Trasacco, and another family in the Province of Bari.
There was in the 17th century a great historian, Muzio Febonio, a man of the church, also from the area of Trasacco. In this small village there is also a tower called "Torre dei Feboni" dating back to the 13th century.
Then Trasacco, which was also a fishermen's center, underwent a massive emigration after the draining of Lake Fucino, the largest in Central Italy, in the latter half of the 19th century.
And the earthquake in 1915 was a great killer too of those who remained, not to mention all the young men who died in the First World War. This may explain the near disappearance of the surname.
Good luck in your trip, we think you will have great surprises!
