When she used to live in the Bronx and she had a friend named Anna Di Pompo. I talked to my uncle Joe “Sonny” Pietrocola, who still has a store in the Bronx in the Arthur Avenue section, and he confirmed the connection. I recall years ago, in the last days of my grandmother’s life she lived in the Kelly Apartments, I believe, but I do know it is on the corner of 187th street and Southern Boulevard. I recall I met a man named Michele Di Pompo at my grandmother’s apartment, who was married to Anna Di Pompo. And here is a funny story. When I met Michele he would come to my grandmother’s apartment and talk to my father and I. I recall I talked to him several times. But, one day he had a book on Vasto. That is where my family is from. So, I told my Uncle Joe, I had an interest in studying our family history and I would like to see the book one day. Out of the blue my Uncle Joe ask Michele for the book and my Uncle Joe gives the book to me. By interpreting that book I was able to start working on my family tree. A few years later I heard that Michele had passed away and that I still had the book on Vasto. I had put the Vasto book in my bookshelf and pretty much forgot about that book. I had been to Vasto twice and I purchased the same book, a newer rendition, on Vasto for myself and my family. So, one day my father, who has the same name as I, and my mother were shopping at a supermarket near the New York/ New Jersey border. It turns out they met a daughter of Michele Di Pompo in the supermarket and she asked for the book back. I could not believe that happened. I never thought we would meet a relative of Michele to give back his book back. I believe the daughter lived in Suffern, New York? I do not recall. My parents ended up giving the Vasto book back after all those years. Is this a small world or what. Are you the daughter of Anna and Michele Di Pompo?
