My grandfather, Erminio Boccio, came from Pescacerolli, a tiny town in Abruzzi, and settled in Chicago around 1912. I know next to nothing about his life in Italy except that my father said he was a sheep herder. From reading various books it seems that a lot of Italians went back and forth between the old country and the US before they finally moved to the US so he may have come here sooner and then went back to pick up his wife. His wife's last name was Cuniconda Nonantonio and her mother's last name was Vincenza Finamore.

There may have been an alteration to the name in coming to America. The name may have been Boccia or Baccio. I pronounce the name Bah-see-oh which obviously is not a proper Italian pronunciation.
