Thank-you for the e-mail. I'm afraid I havn't had the pleasure of meeting your parent's friends the Verì family of Pennsylvania. But you're correct-- at some point back in time, we are related. The Verì family can be traced back to the early 16th century in San Vito Chietino. There are 70 some-odd families listed in the telephone book from San Vito, and about 20 in nearyby Rocca San Giovanni, the birthplace of my father, all the way back to my Great Great Great Grandfather, who moved down the coast from San Vito in the late 18th Century.
The surname "Verì" is a corruption of the word "virile", a nick name that became my family's surname in the 18th century. They received this nick name because they had a lot of kids. The name was first recorded as "Virì", and later "Verì".
Thanks again for the reply. Feel free to put the Verìs in touch with me if you like. Regards, Roberto Verì
