Dear Adone:
Barrea is a wonderful village in South Abruzzo, that in the past relied mainly on sheep raising and seasonal migration to Apulia. Our Genealogy Section at Abruzzo 2000 made a research on past surnames, and in 1753 there are three Caldarone families, all involved with sheep-raising (one owned almost 1000 sheep). Also the Campana surname is a historical family of the place, there were 10 families in 1753. As for the Cetrone, they must have moved to Barrea some time later, since there is no record of Cetrone families.

You can contact our Genealogy Section for more information.
