In tracing Antonio Calderone we found there was no one by that name born in 1878 in the town of Arielli, province of Chieti as noted on his marriage certificate to Gentalina Giacenta Di Natale in 1902. There was however a record of Antonio Caldarone born May 4, 1880 who married Tenaglia Maria Nicola on March 28, 1899 in Orsogna. I believe I was told Antonio was a widower when he married Gentalina. Antonio Caldarone’s parents were Vincenzo Caldarone and Gertrude Mastrocola. I can find no record of any Calderones or Caldarones with the right ages for my family entering the US via Ellis Island. There is, however, a record of Gentalina Di Natale, age 33 taking Vincenzo Di Natale, age 8 and Celestina Di Natale, age 3 to the US aboard the “Ancona” out of Naples in 1911. This most certainly must be my grandmother and my Uncle Jim and Aunt Celeste.Could you give any reasons why my grandmother would travel under her maiden name? Gentalina had five more children (Ralph, Nick, Helen, Joesph and Dominic) in Pennsylvania,USA. Do you know anything about Antonio’s brothers Salvatore (Sam) or Gabriele? I can find no records of them entering the US through Ellis Island either. Also I have been told Gabriele immigrated to Brazil (from the US or Italy?). If anyone has any information regarding this family, please let me know. Follow Ups:
