Cathy: In order to go through your mother's side you must have been born after 1949 (check the year). My friend had success with the San F. office. I am in the process through the NY office. I ran into some snags because of spelling errors. I am about to have my grandfather's death certificate corrected. His first name was spelled wrong. I was in Italy and got an official copy my gf birth certificate. That has to be translated by an official translating service, which I did. I also have a problem with my father's name. He has an Italian first name on his birth cert. but on his marriage and my birth cert. is the English name he was known by. I can not change those documents so I am getting an notorized letter from my aunt testifing that in fact it is the same person. All of this takes time especially getting down to the Health Dept in NYC to get the docs. Be careful of all the spellings. Good luck and keep in touch via email. Marilyn Follow Ups:
