I too thought our name very rare...but the more i look, the more i find and it is VERY exciting. As near as I can track down, Antonio came to the USA in 1895. His father was Joseph (Guiseppe) Stanziano b: 5/15/1854 in Castellino Del Biferno d: 11/16/1921 Castellino... Antonio has 2 brothers (Dominic & Michael) who also came here. There is a family of Stanziano's in New Jersey (i communicate with Darren Stanziano from there) and also in NY ... I met an Albert Stanziano while working at Oberlin College... he worked a year as a piano professor... and he is actually a concert pianist (if you do a generic search of Stanziano you will run across articles about him). For sure he may be from the lineage of your family. Plus, as the story goes, either my grandfather (Antonio) or his father (who was also in the USA for a while) lived in NY for some time (and also in Chicago) where in both places they "lived" with a woman ... and we don't know if they had children... as you can see, the plot thickens!! :) I have hired a researcher (the same one Darren hired) to trace details in Italy. Please feel free to email me dianamite- AT - oberlin.net it will be fun to exchange information as we gather it. Darren and i call each other cousin, even though we're not sure :) his grandfather came from a town 3 miles from Castellino ... so, small world !! And, welcome!! Please don't hesitate to email me!! I am anxiously awaiting the researchers results. Hearing from people like you helps to keep my spirits up... researching this stuff can get frustrating! I have also posted a lot of the Lorain, Ohio (our group) Stanziano's at genealogy.com you should be able to view all of that w/o the fee. Ciao! Follow Ups:
