Very possible this is a connection. I finally found and spoke with the only living daughter of Candita (she is in her 90's)and found the name of the sister that did not come to the US with the family, her name was Rosie Merlini. Supposedly she never married. The man she was to marry died. I am finding they named their children after relatives. Candita was born in 1878, the oldest her sister born probally 1880's.
