Paul,

Did you ever get to the FHL??? If you go to their website (www.familysearch.org)
then go to library catalog and put in Casacalenda. It will give you all the films that are available to rent. There are a total of 56 rolls. All the birth, death, marriage and a few others from 1809 - 1900. It takes about 3 weeks for the films to come in (sometimes a bit longer), but it is worth the wait. Everything is in Italian of course. It takes a little while to get used to trying to read them, if you don't read Italian, that is, but you can quickly pick out the important parts.

Did you say that you are going to Casacalenda soon??? I am going to Italy in a week and a half, and am planning on taking a side trip to Casacalenda. But will not really have time to do any research. Will have to make another trip for that. The other people I am traveling with are not really interested in this stuff, so I can't take up too much time.

I would offer to check some stuff for you, but I am not sure if I will be able to get back to the library before my trip. Maybe after I get back. :)

Let me know if I can help you with anything. You can email me directly if you like.

Gerry
