Dear Fellow Riccese Descendants:

I have been researching my ancestral roots from Riccia and the neighboring town of Jelsi(Ielsi)for many years. I would like to inform you that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the LDS, or Mormons) have microfilmed the civil birth, marriage and death records (Stato Civile) of Riccia for the period from 1809 to 1910. Using those resources, and starting only with knowledge of my grandparents, I have been able to trace my ancestors in Riccia back into the early 1700's and a few even into the late 1600's. Surnames that appear in my Riccese ancestry include: DiBuono, DiBona, Iapalucci, Mignogna, Moffa, Mucci, and Rauso, to name but a few.
To find a list of the microfilms containing the birth/marriage/death records of Riccia I mention above, simply go to the LDS website: FamilySearch.org. When it opens click on the LIBRARY tab; when it opens click on the FAMILY HISTORY CATALOG then enter the name RICCIA in the search window labeled, "PLACE". Once you have the film list, you may access the films you wish to peruse by taking the films numbers to the nearest LDS Family History Center, which you can find from a link back on the FamilySearch.org homepage. The films are made available to you at the local Family History Center on a loan basis for a small fee.
