Posted by Louis Loccisano on 07/30/03 at 1:40 AM Subject:   Calabria DNA project My name is Louis Loccisano. My ancestors were from Gioiosa Ionica (RC), Martone (RC), and Grotteria (RC). I recently tested my own DNA sample to Family Tree DNA (see www.familytreedna.com) by scraping my mouth with a big Q-tip and we found out that my Y DNA originated in CENTRAL ASIA, matching more closely a Crimean Tartar more than other Italians! This means that my original Loccisano male ancestor,whose Y DNA I inherited virtually unchanged over thousands of years, shows he came from Central Asia. Because of this new ability to look into our deep past, I was hoping to get other participants who want to see where their original father's paternal side originated prior to reaching Calabria.
