Posted by Sam Ciufo on 10/07/03 at 5:48 PM Subject: CIUFO OR BOTTALAGINE FAMILY My Great grand fathers on my fathers side are Salvatore Ciufo and Pietro Bottalagine. Both apparantly were from Tufo di Minturno, however I can find no records as of yet to indicate what part of Italy the Bottalagine name originated. So I am looking to see if anyone can help me out with any of this. Does anyone know how the "Ciufo" name originated as I see very different spelling of the word as in Ciuffo, Ciuffa, Cuifo. I am assuming that since everyone was rather illiterate in the 1400's that perhaps they started to spell it wrong. I would also like to know if there was such a thing as a family crest for this last name. Hope to hear from someone soon. Post a Followup [To post you must Register ] |
