From your email, I would speculate that your grandfather came from a town called CASTELNUOVO. The reasons are; He settled in Buffalo. Very few from Barisciano did. The patron Saint of Castelnuovo is Saint John the Baptist, while the patron saint of Barisciano is San Flaviano. If you have any connections in Buffalo or in Rochester, your search should be relatively easy. If not and you have the birth date of your grandfather, his full name and the name of his parents, you can go to the town hall in San Pio Delle Camere (about 5km away) and search the archives.
