D'EVANGELISTA, EVANGELISTA(LATER USAGE), ANTONUCCI, BATTISTELLA, GAZZA, VESPA

I would like any information on the above families.

My father was Caesar Palmiro Evangelista (a.k.a. Caesar Palmiro Battistella), he was born in Castelvecchio,Calvisio,Province of L'Aquila, March 23,1902.

He came to the U.S. in 1910 with his mother, Carmela Evangelista(her maiden name).

In 1885 she married Evangelista Battistella, who came to the U.S.with their son and was supposed to send for her and their daughter Grace. Bastistella never did send for them.

Carmela later lived with a tailor,John Batista(Spelling?) from Pescara, in Castelveccho. He fathered my dad,Caesar.

John was going to move to Pescara and would take his son, Caesar, and Carmela but not Grace. Carmela said, take all or none. The tailor left by himself.

Alesondro(sp.?) Vespa sent for Carmela to take care of his three children when her sister died in child birth. That is why Carmela and Caesar came to Iron Mountain, Michigan in 1910.

When Caesar grew up, he anglicized Evangelista to Evance.

P.S.:I don't remember Grace's first name.It may be Maria. She married Tony Gazza, also from Castelvecchio, before coming to the U.S.

Carmela's father was Angelomarino D'Evangelista and her mother was Domenica Antonucci. Both of them lived in Castelvecchio,Calvisio. Vespa also came from there.
