My great grandparents were both killed by Germans when they saw they were cooking a huge pot of water. Too much for 2 old people. They were cooking it for their son and his military underground. The Germans shot my great-grandfather and bayoneted my great-grandmother when they refused to tell them where their son was hiding. Their last name was Macerelli. My grandmother, whose maiden name is Immaculata Macerelli came to the US and married Anthony Raffaelli. They settled in the Pittsburgh area.
My grandmother's brother became the Mayor of Pientransieri for many years after the war. Does anyone know if any Macerelli's or Raffaelli's are still living in this town?
