Hello Lorena,

Are many of your relatives in San Donato? or are they also in other areas, such as Settefratti, or Alvito? If you know their last names (or nicknames) and if they all live in San Donato, I might know them, or maybe my relatives or friends know them. I am due to call them soon, so I can always ask if you want.

It is a smart decision to avoid the heat! I call July and August in San Donato the "black out months" because when you try walking a short distance, you feel like you are going to literally black out.

When I went to San Donato in January, I used firewood that was kept in my grandparents home. We do not have heat in the house, so I had to make a fire in the fireplace (but it was warm) Also, I was given an electric heater as a gift from someone there, so made the house very warm and cozy!

The home is owned by my mother and 3 aunts now that my grandparents have passed away. Although I have often stayed at the house, I want to try to rent my own apartment (less responsibility that way as handling a big house it too much for me...and if something breaks, I do not want to have to deal with plumbers and repairmen! at least with a newer apartment, all I have to do is pay rent and if something goes wrong, the landlord can deal with it)

March is a tricky month there. At night it gets cold and windy, but during the day, the weather can be as high as 50 degrees, or it can be rainy. I plan to go the end of March and into April, so at least I will get some of the Spring April sun!

If you prefer, you can give me your home e mail address, and we can continue to correspond.

I will get the phone number for Alfredo Pesce (the person in town that picks up people from the airport or train station, as well as phone number to the taxi company in Cassino. It is so simple to hop on the train at Fumicino airport. The trains are very dependable, and then all you have to do is call a cab and in 30 minutes, you are in San Donato (or the other nearby towns)

I LOVED Greece. The greek olives and cheese were the best!
