My whole family on both sides is from Benevento, Italy I have been there 3 times at age 2, 10 and 19 I am 30 now and am due for another trip. My Father is from Ponte, Benevento and mum is from Casalduni, Benevento(neighbouring towns) Dad said the paese (town) your grandfather is from is about 25 kilometres from Ponte. My grandfather was Nicola Casbarra, my grandmother was Lucia they both passed away in 1977 2 months apart. They had 8 children a boy died agend 2 but all the others are around. In fact my uncle, Italo Casbarra is still living in Ponte with his wife and 2 daughters Nicoletta and Lucia. The rest of the family is all Adelaide, Australia. We are the only Casbarra's in Adelaide and I am the only Casbarra in Sydney. My aunt Ida is the eldest, then Aunt Livia, then my dad Antonio, then Uncle Italo, then aunt Elvira and finally Uncle Mario. I was wanting to get more names of Dad's uncles etc and will do so in the next follow up. Dad's side of the family is pretty short the average height 5 foot 4 inches needless to say I have taken from dad's side of the family. the major Casbarra trait of course, is Red Hair, I have it, my sister Lucy has it, my dad has it (though mostly grey)Dad's sisters and brothers had it also varying from Stawberry blonde to real titian red (as in my case). One of Dad's uncles settled in Argentina and a daughter came to live in Sydney but we have lost contact there. Another uncle's family still lives in Ponte. Also one of our relatives is from your grandfathers town but we do not know her maiden name it was not Casbarra. I was supposed to have been named Dante after Dante Alighieri, Italy's answer to Shaespeare however as I am a girl dad called by Patrizia after a character's name of an Aussie police dram from the 1970's so I am not named after a family member however you would probably gather from now that most of the Casbarra children are named a varation of Nicola (Nicholas) or Lucia (Lucy) in honour of the grandparents which is a very Italian thing to do. I do speak Italian fluently as I studied it at University. If you ever visit Sydney I would love to meet. Follow Ups:
