Posted by George Woodworth on November 27, 2005 at 12:25:30: I am still looking for the birth place of my Great Grandfather and Grandfather. Despite the help and assistance I have had from a number of people, for which I will be eternally grateful, I have still been unable to find my roots. Can You Help with advice? My grandmother said they came from Naples or outside Naples, but more recently there have been links with other areas. Antonio Gentile birth about 1838 to 1845 –Girolomo Gentile birth about 1867 – 1872 Taken from the average of births stated on various documents. I know they came to England about 1888, and they settled in Dewsbury Yorkshire for a time prior to going to Chester. I am told Gentile is a very common name in Italy, however, I have yet to have a reply from one.
