I live in Louisiana, USA and am trying to find any information about my great-great grandfather James (Giacone) Garbarino who left his home with his wife Mary, a brother named Nicholas, and a sister who was either named Kate or Rosina. They settled in the USA just before the American Civil War. The death record for James and Nicholas dating from 1901 and 1895 repectively show the birhplace as Casalla (sp??. Mary was supposedly from Montebruno. An old family story has them leaving the area because of the marriage of James and Mary not being approved of for some reason by the two families. One story has it being that James was supposed to have married an older sister of Mary's and James may have gilted her for Mary, but again this might be an old family legend with no credibility.
They all may have settled for a short time in Tennessee as the sister was supposed to have married a man and lived there. I have also found a census entry that might be them in Tennessee around 1860. Both brothers served in the American Civil War on the Confederate side.
If any of this may sound familiar please respond.
