Research in Taranto

I am visiting Puglia for a holiday and plan to visit Taranto where my grandfather was born in the Old Town, Pendio S. Domenico in 1877. The only document I have is his birth certificate and I would like to know where I should go in order to obtain information about other members of his family. I don't have a baptismal record so do not know the church where he might have been baptised or where any of his family might be buried.
Any advice would be appreciated
