Hi There,
Here is the manifest you were referring to. I agree with you that Leopoldo and family was born in Chieti and was staying with the Aunt in Carpinone. However, the main concern is where they were born. You have to remember our ancestors that lived on the East Coast of Italy had to travel across the whole country to the Ports on the West Coast in order to come to America.
Here is the manifest you were referring to.
Name: Leopoldo Bruno
Estimated birth year: abt 1888
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Napoli
Place of Origin: Italian (South) (Italian)
Ship Name: Ferdinando Palasciano
Search Ship Database: Search the Ferdinando Palasciano in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Nativity: Italy
Line: 27
Microfilm Serial: T715
Microfilm Roll: T715_2892
Birth Location: Italy
Birth Location Other: chieti
Page Number: 190
the Family History Center has microfilm for the town of Chieti. On the film you can find copies of the birth, marriage, and death records of your ancestors. The films cost about $5.75 a roll. The films go from 1809-1900.
I also suggest that you write the town for the Marriage Act of Leopoldo. Or you can just try to use the films for the Birth Acts of Leopoldo and his wife.
The Marriage Act would list their parents so that when you look at the microfilm you know you have the write person. Or if you get Leopoldo's death certificate, it could list his parents' names.
If you want to write to the town, here the address.
Uffico Stato Civile
Comune di Chieti
Piazza V. Emanuele, 1
66100 Chieti CH
ITALY
Hope this helps some,
Trish
