Alvino family of Faiano ?

I am currently researching my family history and would appreciate any info. on how to obtain official municipal records, such as birth, death, marriage, etc. that would help me determine my distant ancestors. My branch of the ALVINO family is originally from Pontecagnano-Faiano, having emigrated to the U.S. between 1890 and 1910.

Specifically, I am attempting to uncover any information on the family of FEDERICO and GIOVANNI ALVINO. Federico is my great-grandfather (b. 1856) and Giovanni (b. 1850) was his older brother. Federico married Anna Costabbila and they had 12 children, all born in the U.S. That is really all that I know but I would like very much to continue my research further back in time.

I believe that there are still some Alvinos remaining in the village of Faiano, but I do not speak Italian and do not know how to reach them. If I could, I would solicit their assistance in researching official records maintained by the local Commune. And, although I have written to them (in English), I have so far been unsuccessful in getting a response from anyone at city hall.

If anyone who reads this message either knows *anything* about the Alvino family of Fiaino, or knows how I can access official records of the Commune, please contact me! I can be reached in the USA via email at alvino1@erols.com.

Thanks!
