When an immigration officer couldn't read the very fancy Italian handwriting he did his best. Since the immigrant (your GGran) probably couldn't read or write it didn't really matter at the time. Someo isn't an Italian name. To find out abou the LDS films go to www.familysearch.org. They microfilmed many Italian documents but usually those before 1866 so this may not help you. You need to get the original birth or marriage certificate from Vallerotonda to be sure of the surname.
