Hello Alejandro Sarapo,

the Italian Authorities did not bother to keep records of emigrants in those years after "Independence". In fact between 1860 and 1915, One-Third (1/3) of Italians left Italy. Your only hope is to find records in the country that your grandparents emigrated to.

I have found my grandparents' records of their voyage to the USA on the Ellis Island (NY) site. My grandparents however returned to Grumento Nova (PZ) and I was born there, but my parents' then emigrated to Australia when I was 3 years old.

I left Australia 7 years ago and have lived in Ireland and now England (which is GREAT), but I plan to permanently return to live in Grumento Nova within the next year. It has been a life long desire of mine to return to my birth place and complete my "circle".

Good Luck, Jim
