I am looking for descendants of my grandmother's family.
Nicola Solimena (born 1832) and his children: Emmanuel, Filomena, Alfonso, Pasquale, Antoinetta and Giovanni came to the US in the last decade of 19th century. Some of them settled in Brooklyn, NY, around Degraw Street, working as a cabinet makers. Some in NJ.
There were some intermarriages: my grandmother, Antoinetta Solimena married my grandfather, Giuseppe Giovannitti, whose sister Angelina married Emmanuel Solimena. Both families lived near each other on Degraw St.
There are also stories of a relative from the distant past who was a painter. Was this Francesco Solimena, the successful Baroque painter from Naples?
Another story claims that some family members from Argentina (sic!), came to New York and painted beautiful frescos in my grandparent's house on Degraw Street.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who might have information or think they are related.
Thank you.
